My understanding is that this is due to Google's implementation of "scoped storage". It's a step to keep apps from accessing storage locations that they don't truly need. The idea is good, but it has broken numerous apps for me that require reading files on my SD card

I have lost access to files I use. I have an app that I use to keep things hidden from my kids and now EVERYTHING in there says "error file is corrupt".
