Fold & Flip Phones

Hi All, joined here as i'm pulling my hair out so help or advice desperately needed.

The latest software update was forced onto my Galaxy Flip 6 last week and has rendered it unusable!! The front screen works but the internal screen is black..nothing there. Thanks Samsung!!!!

I've contacted my network provider as my phone is still under warranty, they have advised to send to to them for repair or replacement, all seems fine so far however they advised i need to back up my phone before i return it... and therein lies the problem. I've spent countless hours trying to connect my phone to various laptops to back it up via smartswitch apps etc etc...  I am literally going around in circles as everything i've tried revolves around me being able to get into my phone to allow it to connect to these laptops.

Is there anyway i can back my phone up other than the above, i have data/info on my phone that i cannot really afford to lose.

Thanks in advance.

Frustrated

Aren't you already backing up to the cloud? I think they're turned on by default, both Google and Galaxy. I use Google for pictures and Galaxy for settings. Just go into settings and type in backup

Thanks for reply. I hope some of my data is backed up in the cloud however i cannot access my cloud to check as when i try and login in it has a two step authentication security step which involves me accessing my phone sadly. Thanks

So, just off topic and out of curiosity, what is the purpose of having flip phone if you really can't do anything from the outer screen?  Seems like a waste of money for a novelty.

How old is your laptop?  Does it have a USB-C Port?  You should be using the cable that came with your phone to connect for file transfer.  If your laptop does not have a USB-C port, you may have to get an OTG USB-A/C adapter.  As @GaryB82 suggested, download Smart Switch for Computer from the Microsoft store (assuming you have Windows) and then you can selectively backup your important data.  Yes, the phone backs up to the cloud nightly, but it does not back up any documents or notes (unless you chose to sync your notes with Samsung Cloud).  Your photos and contacts are backed up to Google, so I'd only worry about other files that were sent to you, downloaded or created in other apps.  If you can get Smart Switch to back up, you can do a selective backup or a full backup of everything on your phone.  However, if you never turned autoblocker off on  your device, that may be the issue holding up your file transfer.  If you can get to the settings from the outer screen, you should turn it off.

@realaud I deleted my comment because they already tried smart switch the only thing they can do is hope they were backing up to google and Samsung and restore from the backup when setting up the replacement

Oh, the comment was still there when I started typing.  I guess you deleted it while my manuscript was in progress.

So, what *is* the actual purpose of the flip if you can't do anything from the outer screen?
