Display brightness issue on cover screen and AOD

For the last couple of days I've got an issue with the display brightness on my cover screen and AOD. It's down so low that I can hardly see it. I've tried all sorts display settings but can't figure it out (even reboot) I checked for app updates for when it started, couple of Google apps, could that be it? In using Flip5/OneUi 8

I know you said you checked some settings, but would you happen to have adaptive brightness enabled? Sometimes, I've had it go to extremes before under certain lighting conditions. Which is very rare, though.

No, I never use(it's not on) I've even tried turning brightness all the way up just can't figure it out.

Is it stuck on being dim all the time? Do you have any modes/routines set that may be causing that behavior? It could be a third-party app that maybe got installed.

Try wiping the "cache partition" to see if that helps. It's safe and won't remove your settings or app files. Clearing the "cache partition" can help resolve any issues caused by old or corrupted system cache data. 

Follow the steps below,

Clear the cache partition
- Turn the phone off (shut down)
- Press and hold the Volume Up key, then press and hold the side key.
- When the Android system recovery menu options show release buttons.
- Press the volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
- Press the side key to select.
- Press the volume down key to highlight yes, then press the side key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system is now highlighted.
- Press the side key to restart the device.

Unfortunately I just tried and now it's even dimmer to the point of nonexistent

Agreed on my fold 7 the option is gone to increase brightness on AOD I had that setting on my fold.3 but they must have forgotten to add it need fixed on next update who do we have to tell to get this fixed? This is ridiculous 😒
