Open Settings: Pull down your notification shade and tap the Gear icon, or find Settings in your app drawer.

Navigate to Apps: Scroll down and select Apps.

Locate Messages: Search for or scroll down to the Messages app.

Access Storage: Tap on Storage.

Clear Data: Tap Clear Data (and confirm if prompted). This wipes the app's temporary files and reset configurations.

Re-initialize: Open the Messages app. You may be prompted to sign in or set it as your default app again.
