I had bought a Galaxy Z Fold 4 to try it out before I buy the newest one (Iโ€™m an iPhone user) and it was in like new condition. Randomly I noticed when i opened the phone up the inner screen wasnโ€™t responding to my finger and froze so I closed it up, locked the phone and tried it again. From there the screen went black and hasnโ€™t went back to normal. When itโ€™s cracked a little or phone restarts the screen looks and works perfect just not opened all the way. Repair shop is charging me $400-700 which isnโ€™t worth it. Anyone had this problem?

I seen that some people online stated they changed the flex cable only and it worked. My screen is perfect cracked open, just not all the way open ๐Ÿ˜’

Yes โ€” this is a known issue with some Galaxy Z Fold 4 units. The inner foldable screen can fail when partially opened, especially if the hinge or flex cable is stressed. Symptoms like yours โ€” black screen when unfolded, working fine when slightly cracked or after restart โ€” often indicate a faulty hinge connection or display flex cable.
Many users report repair costs $400โ€“700, which is expensive because the inner foldable display is proprietary. Unfortunately, thereโ€™s no easy DIY fix, and temporary workarounds (like only using the cover screen) are the only option unless you pay for repair or replacement.
