Hey rubylynn, welcome to the community! I can definitely understand your concern here. Let's try to alleviate some of the stress by trying a couple of things.

First make sure your device is fully up to date. This link should help with this: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshoot/TSG10001440/

Second try clearing your device's cache.

The system cache partition stores temporary system data. It's supposed to allow the system to access apps more quickly and efficiently, but sometimes things get cluttered and outdated, so a periodic cache clearing can help make the system run more smoothly.

- When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.

- An โ€˜Installing system updateโ€™ message will show for 30 โ€“ 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.

- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.

- Press Power key to select.

- Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.

- When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.

- Press the Power key to restart the device.

Your phone will take a little time booting up after the cache partition is wiped off of its contents as it will rebuild or recreate those caches. Donโ€™t be alarmed if the phone gets stuck on the logo for a minute or two after this just donโ€™t turn it off so that what was deleted will be replaced successfully. So, wait for your phone to become active. Donโ€™t worry, this procedure is very easy and safe to do. You wonโ€™t damage your phone just by wiping the cache partition.

Third, check if you get notifications while the device is in Safe Mode.

This link will help with that: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10003495/

Lastly, a factory reset may be in order. Please ensure to back up all data before performing this.

If this does not help I recommend letting a service technician have a look. As we would like to gather additional information, and look at this from a case by case basis, please provide the full model code and serial number of the device as well as your best contact phone number, name, and email.
