I am very frustrated with the fact that once I cut pictures and videos off of My Z Fold 5 5G and paste them to my external drive connected to a Windows 11 PC I cannot play the videos on the traditional media player/s installed on the computer. It keeps saying missing codec and wants me to purchase it for $1.99

$1800 dollar phone I should not have to purchase any other software for my computer to play the videos that it created. I have had the Note 3 5 8 and 10+ and Z fold 3 5G and none of those gave a problem with playing videos.

As much Money as I have spent on Samsung phones and Tvs and blu ray players I would like it if you could roll out some kind of update that makes my videos playable on the standard Windows 11 OS.

I have waited patiently for over a year to see if you would come up with a fix on your own but I guess I have to create a post here in order to get something done.

Thanks for your time.

Open your phone's camera settings>Advanced video options and select Video format> H.264 (most compatible).

Try VLC media player. It's free. 4K, open source, and been around a long time.

I have VLC media player now but the point is for as much as the computer and the phone cost I shouldn't have to pay $1.99 for the codec or install another media player to get them to play and now since the latest Samsung Software update on the phone the videos thumbnails are gone and the VLC CONE is there in place of the thumbnail witch makes it that much harder to browse to try to find a certain video among 100s and 100s of videos. Needle in a haystack.

That's a Microsoft issue not Samsung though.

This thing is being annoying I replied to this twice already hopefully 3rd times a charm.

Normally I'd agree but since the thumbnails disappeared after the last phone system update is the reason I am posting it here.

I have already also put in complaints with Microsoft.  Thanks.

Ensure that your videos are not being recorded in HEVC format.

Thanks that seems to work I'm just concerned if it will take lesser quality videos on that setting?

It shouldn't take lesser quality videos in H.264 mode because there's less compression being utilized, resulting in larger files.
