After my phone automatically updated itself to One UI 7, these icons on the cover screen are constantly there. They aren't removable as far as I can see, and they don't mean anything either. The one on the left appears to be a notification from Android (which does not show when I swipe to see my notifications) and the one on the right looks like it might from the performance profiles, which I do NOT even have turned on or changed from the default settings.

I could be wrong, but the one on the right almost looks like "Do Not Disturb," and the 1 means it blocked one alert. I don't use DND, so again, I am not sure. All I know is that the left is definitely an Android system icon, and the right is not a performance profile icon, as the diagonal is the wrong way and it does not have the other line forming the check-like symbol. Check "Nice Catch" in Good Lock, and it will tell you exactly what triggered each and what they represent. Your phone would not have automatically updated to One UI 7 without giving you an ongoing notification for a brief period, letting you know that it was going to update. You could have taken action and stopped it if you did not want One UI 7 that badly. Alternatively, within the first seven settings in "Developer options" is automatic system update, with a toggle set to its "on" position. You may turn it off, and your phone will never update automatically. It is a five-second fix.

The one on the right is different than the dnd icon, although that would make sense with the 1 and all. The update thing, isn't as big of a deal because I like the update overall. It did give me a notification for roughly an hour, before updating automatically while I was using it. I believe it's a carrier thing, not a samsung thing though. It's just unfortunate that the update was forced without an option to decline it and then it introduced these bugs. I'd rather keep them automatic though. I will look into the nice catch thing.

Yes, it doesn't exactly match DnD, but the number 1 is what made me feel it had something to do with it. Frankly, it doesn't match any notification icon I've ever seen on any of my Samsung phones, which I've used exclusively since the Galaxy S5. Weird, but interesting.

I'm unfamiliar with the Fold series; I've always gone Ultra, so I'm unsure if this is an option for you. But under regular settings, notifications, there is an option to view notification history, which, in effect, achieves the same thing as Nice Catch, though I still prefer Nice Catch as it feels more detailed. Good luck!

I initially thought the same. I figured it had to do with dnd since I had it enabled at the time of the update, but it is still there while it is off.

I checked the notification history and the notification says "mediaongoingactivity" which suggests that it has to do with the music I had playing at the time. Only issue is, there's no way to disable the notification and it only shows on the cover screen which I'm assuming is a bug. Now I just need to figure out what the icon on the right is.

What happens when you open the service "mediaongoingactivity" and force-close it? This should immediately clear any possible notifications it is responsible for. You would admittedly need above-average knowledge of the Android OS, but in Developer options, you will find an option to view background services. You should see whatever is causing the unidentified right-side icon; it may be a cached process at this point. In that case, click the three dots in that menu, then select "cached processes".

You can stop any process the phone is running from there, though many will automatically restart. It should still permanently remove the notification as long as you are not actively using whatever caused it.

Hope that makes sense.

Alternatively, an easier option would be to use Good Guardian and its RAM manager to clear all current processes. Afterward, manually click the small blue section of the pie chart representing cached processes. It will visually let you know you are clearing cached processes and that it is likely unnecessary, but give it a go anyway. Just make sure you do not have any unsaved or important things open while doing this!

I believe I found how to make it dissappear. It didn't give me the option to disable the notification, but it allowed me to make it not show on the lock screen since it was only showing there anyway.

Just be advised that method permanently won't allow it to show on your lock screen vs just force closing or stopping the process, although more complicated, would effectively remove it right now but still allow it to show if needed in the future.

As long as your happy with it, that's all that matters. It is your phone after all!

What is it and how do you get rid of it?
