Fold & Flip Phones

I only had the Z Flip 7 for a few months now, and I was really excited for this phone. I tried my best to keep it protected, but due to the hinge nature it is hard to protect the hinge edge. Therefore, I had some scratches on it. The screen one day went block and spotchy after opening the phone. I did not drop it. I took it to the service center, and they said the samsung warranties are strict, and any evidence of damage makes it not available for warranty coverage. They also said if I send the phone off to samsung for a re-evaluation, they will return the phone in parts, so that they cannot even fix it at the service center again. I had to pay almost half the cost of the phone to repair it. I just think it is not right for customers to be penalized for the unstable hinge. I tried to reach out to customer service for help, and they lead me to here instead. Posting to see if anything can be done in my case, and to let people be aware of the flip phones,  that warranties are useless, and honestly just buy a different phone because of the instability. The samsung care is much more expensive for the flip phones too, so honestly it is much more economical just to get a regular, non foldable phone.

This is why it is recommended to purchase Samsung Care + for foldable phones.

The cost of samsung care+ over the course of the phone (like 2 years) is the same as half the price of the phone. I guess my recommendation still stands. If you do not have a luxury of money, don't get a foldable phone and just a regular one.  Samsung care+ is even cheaper so much more worth it.

I have the same problem.  I just posted about it.  The issue for me is not whether to buy the insurance or not. I have insurance.  The issue is, they say a 1 year warranty but will point to the slightest of normal wear inperfections and claim physical damage thereby voiding the warranty.  That's virtually impossible in a 1 year span.  In actual practice threre really isn't no warranty.  Don't claim a 1 yerar warranty if all you are going to do is figure out a way not to honor it.
