Why remove bottom swipe gestures?

What's the reasoning behind removing the bottom swipe gestures? I've used this feature since the S9. The button gestures look tacky and cheap. On the A series I understand, but the z fold looks much more professional with swipe-from-the-bottom, swipe gestures.

You can switch to swipe gestures if you desire.  Settings/display/navigation bar, switch to swipe gestures.  If you want the old style gestures with the three swipe areas at the bottom, you will need to download Good Lock and NavStar and enable the extra gesture settings.  Otherwise you will have to get used to side swiping for back and recent.  Where have you been?  This has been the way since OneUI7.0, or are you saying that your OneUI8.0 update switched you back to the navigation bar rather than gestures?
