I dont understand the reason for this... the customization on Google messages is terrible compared to Samsung; therefore, I would like to use Samsung Messages. I bought a Samsung phone for the customization features. And now you're taking that away? Please communicate with Google to make the customization the same as Samsung Messages (like we've been asking) because it's starting to feel like Samsung is abandoning their customers...

Yes, i am defending it. Samsung has every right to discontinue their app. Nobody forced you to pay the price for the phone. Certainly a single app is not with $1000+. You buy the phone for all of its features, which Samsung has the right to change or discontinue at any time.

And, I am also not predisposed to hate an app just because it comes from a certain developer and doesn't look like what I am used to. You guys need to rent a Legion Hall and form a support group.

You buy certain brands because of their features, Samsung phones are expensive and they keep removing the reasons they were chosen so you find another brand. Samsung loses sales or decide to keep features that keep people buying Samsung.

And if Samsung starts to lose significant market share, they will likely re-evaluate or add some other innovation.

Funny how all the people screaming "nothing to see here, move along" are the ones not affected by the change - - they could use Google's messaging before, they still can use it (can't argue with someone's low standards) and nothing is changing for them...

The only ones screaming are those that object to the messages going away.  We are telling you that this is not an earth shattering or life altering event, and it's something that Samsung has every right to do, so you either deal with it or move on to something else.  Yes, it doesn't affect those of us who don't use or don't care about Samsung messages, but the rest of you just need to calm down. And, all these *separate* postings does affect the forum user experience for the rest of us.  I'm bored with this subject now, so I will stop responding.  I've said what I had to say, and talking to walls doesn't interest me.

As they should, when they are being inconvenienced by completely unnecessary actions.
You are more than welcome to accept anything any company throws at you, but maybe you should stay out of discussions that do not affect you in any way. Especially when you are starting from a completely bogus premise that the app is not being supported anymore (it is) or that the app would not be able to work after the shutdown date (it would).

It is not being supported in the U.S. and you don't get to tell me which discussions I should stay out of.

Riiight. You are the only one who gets to tell people what they may or may not complain about. Got it.

And sorry to burst your bubble (either green or blue) but the app is still being actively developed and supported. It's just being artificially blocked in a jurisdiction where Samsung's sugar daddy can get away with it. At least until the next class action. But those are just the cost of doing business.

@Soki22 If you don't have backup enabled in the Google account settings on your phone, you won't need any Google cloud storage to use Google messages.

Please do not discontinue Samsung Messages without providing an equivalent replacement. The combination of customizable categories and pinned conversations is not a minor featureโ€”it is a core organizational tool that materially improves usability. I rely on categories to separate three businesses, services, and personal conversations, and pinning alone is not an adequate substitute. Current alternatives, including Google Messages, do not offer user-defined categories or any comparable organizational system. Removing this functionality represents a clear loss of capability, not an upgrade. If Samsung Messages must be discontinued, I strongly request that: Equivalent user-defined categories (folders or labels) be implemented in the replacement app, or Samsung Messages be allowed to continue functioning as a supported alternative for users who depend on this workflow This feature is a meaningful part of why I chose Samsung. Removing it without replacement reduces the overall value of the device and ecosystem.
