Today I was taking a photo of some flowers using the cover screen when I saw these huge horizontal static bars moving across the screen.
It looked like static but instead of black and white, there were also spots of color, and each bar about ~1.5cm tall and 0.5cm wide, if I had to guess.

Regardless, it's worrying to see on a super expensive phone. How common of an issue is this? I suspect it is some fault of the hinge, potentially squishing the video cable, but I'm also just making that up, it could be anything.

Interestingly, this is happening on the cover screen only, the inner screen is actually so far okay.

Hello, Welcome and thank you for being part of the Community. We understand the concern with the screen flickering.

Here is a link with some troubleshooting steps (be sure to check all 7 checkpoints): https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshoot/TSG10004671/

You can run the diagnostics in the Members app, under the Support tab. This will test the hardware on the phone.

If the screen continues flickering, or the diagnostics tests fail, it is recommended to have the phone evaluated by an authorized service center.

You can use the following link to find a list of service centers in the U.S. that can do the repair: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/location or by contacting customer support at 1-800-726-7864.

For assistance outside the U.S., please use this link: https://www.samsung.com/us/common/visitlocationsite.html
