Samsung Buds FE voice quality awful

When on calls or recording, my Buds FE pick up sounds around me more than my own voice by far. When driving, no one can understand me. When in an airport, it's impossible to hear what I say. 

I've tried switching between the Ambient Noise, Noise Cancelling and Off modes but it doesn't change anything. 

Is this an issue with all Samsung Buds or is it just the FE? 

Any apps that can fix this? Why don't they use background noise suppression tech like Zoom?

I love the price and the fit of these buds but they're failing at one of the most basic use cases...

If you use the voice recorder when you're driving, can you hear yourself clearly in the recording or do you hear mostly road?

I just recorded sound on both of my sets of Buds FE. They sound exactly the same level of really bad with any background noise

i use buds FE & haven't had that bad of an experience but having high expectations for the 4 pro
