I have few apps that suddenly became "system apps". they are no longer in the notification setting window and to show them I needed to turn on "show system apps" settings. after they are shown in this window the notification settings is grayed out and can't be toggled. However, they show in the app information setting window but the notification settings no longer exist in the app information setting window. I am talking about apps that are not really system apps and they used to have notification like Google earth and an electric utility company app. not sure what I did to make them a system app, and not sure how to revert them back.
Try this. With the phone powered off, press + hold power and volume up buttons until the Samsung logo disappears. Using volume keys, highlight Repair apps and then power to select and confirm if necessary. This will reindex all apps on the device.
It was a worth a shot. The next best step, to avoid more troubleshooting steps that might not work, would be to backup the device, factory reset, and restore. This usually fixes most weird bugs.
