A Poem
The Iris stands in velvet grace,
A brush of purple, gold and blue,
To meet the sun's ascending pace
And drink the morning’s golden hue.
Each petal, like a silken sail,
Unfurls to catch the steady light,
With gossamer and silver veil
To banish every ghost of night.
