if you restart the Galaxy Note 4 after the update the phone displays unable to use fingerprints after restarting the device. Enter password. The fingerprint feature used to work after reboting before the update.

I believe this is a feature that came with the update, once you restart your phone you must enter your backup password to get into your phone initially but after that you should be good to go on using the fingerprint scanner.
Even after putting the password in, it still few times a day asks for the password.
Is this a feature too?
Way worse I have special characters in my password and Swiftkey does allow to type though on the lock screen, so I need to keep switching keyboards.
@Zalman in the cases where phone asks for pin or password to unlock, how did you lock the phone? Are you using a locking widget?
No locking widgets. Plain vanilla Samsung. Every now and then the device would blank out for one second then come back locked and require password rather than fingerprint with the same message about not being able to use fingerprints after reboot. Needless to say this all worked just fine before the update.
I would remove finger print and password lock. Go back to swipe. Restart the phone. Add fingerprint and pin or password back.
If that does not help I would backup and factory reset.
I have the same problem...and my note edge request for the backup password several times aday afte the latest updates. Now I am on 6.0.1 stock but still that password request is the same. Also the phone get freez for a second before it kicks me out and request for the backup password.
I did a factory reset and deleted every single apps but the issue i the same.
Any solution? !
Got the same issues (Note 4) for random need to use backup password. No ryme, no reason. I will go to use phone. Usually at the most inappropriate times for my device to give me issues and BooM, there it is. Hope this can be fixed soon. Already culled out any junk and did cache purge. Junk aka apps not needed.
Thanks for any and all updates to this issue.
