All of a sudden a few days ago, I was flooded with ads for apps. They would interrupt whatever I was doing on the phone. Then every few minutes the phone would reboot. I opened the phone in safe mode and started deleting apps. I loaded AURA software. I still get some adds that interrupt and sporadic reboots. Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions?

Did you download some apps off a third party app store or use some trial basis app/launcher? Honestly best suggestion here is to do a factory reset and start fresh. Wipe your phone clean

You have acquired some malicious adware. Could have visited an infected website. Even games and apps supported by advertising will only serve up ads when you are actively using the app. If you are getting ads randomly while not not using an ad supported app, something went rougue. Uninstall any app you installed right before this started happening. Go to the phone's security settings and turn on app protection, then run a scan. Download Malwarebytes and run a scan. If you want to pinpont the actual app it's coming from, download Good Lock's Nice Catch and turn on detect commercials. Next time an ad pops up, open the app and see if it tells you where it's coming from

My suggestion is to go into yr settings and find Google services and go through all Google services and customize each one according to yr likes but in particular you'll come across one that offers you the option too option in or out of adds or promotions ,you can also go into yr Google account by tapping yr profile Pic and scroll down on the first column and find the same options .

I would do a factory reset and only installed apps I am 100% sure about. Don't download games or anything extra and see how it functions. Then add apps one at a time until the issue comes back
