Galaxy Note PhonesI would power it off and not try to charge it until it's fully dried.

Galaxy Note PhonesThe first thing you should have done is power it off.

Galaxy Note PhonesAs @GaryB82 said, the first thing you should have done is turn the phone off. Then thoroughly wipe all surface water from the phone with a lint free towel. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CHARGE YOUR PHONE until you are sure it's completely dry. You should wait 24 hours at minimum for this to happen. You can put it in a container of uncooked rice (which will draw out moisture), or you can gently blow dry it on the dryer's cool setting. Also, use the lowest blow setting. It's always good to save all those little silica gel packs that come tucked away in things for situations like this. If you don't have rice, or don't want to waste rice, you can put the phone in a sealed container with a couple of silica packs (they are also cheap to buy).
The phone has a water resistance factor for situations such as this, so it's unlikely anything internal would have gotten wet, but the most important thing is for the USB port to be COMPLETELY bone dry.
