Most of the phone this days are resistant to water damage. It should go back to normal.

Do you have a fan?
You can use it to try and dry it out, do not use any heat!

Some say covering it with dry, uncooked rice helps. I have not tried it to confirm.

I would power it off and not try to charge it until it's fully dried.

The first thing you should have done is power it off.

What model phone? Most phones water resistant and can stay under water up to 20-30 minutes and still works perfectly.. power off and leave it a few minutes then u will be fine

Your username is creepy, but that's beside the point. What do you mean by "it's dying?" What's it doing now that it wasn't doing before you dropped it? Most modern phones have some level of basic water resistance, I use mine in the shower all the time, I've used it in lakes, pools, and dropped it in the sink countless times. The only consequence is that sometimes it won't charge because the phone detected water in it, but I can just charge it wirelessly.

As @GaryB82 said, the first thing you should have done is turn the phone off.  Then thoroughly wipe all surface water from the phone with a lint free towel.  DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CHARGE YOUR PHONE until you are sure it's completely dry.  You should wait 24 hours at minimum for this to happen.  You can put it in a container of uncooked rice (which will draw out moisture), or you can gently blow dry it on the dryer's cool setting. Also, use the lowest blow setting.  It's always good to save all those little silica gel packs that come tucked away in things for situations like this.  If you don't have rice, or don't want to waste rice, you can put the phone in a sealed container with a couple of silica packs (they are also cheap to buy).

The phone has a water resistance factor for situations such as this, so it's unlikely anything internal would have gotten wet, but the most important thing is for the USB port to be COMPLETELY bone dry.
