Note 9 OS already Outdated, Why?

So very disappointing. The Note 9 is such a beautiful phone but yet it’s already outdated from the factory with OS Android Oreo! Why is it so difficult for Samsung to released a phone with the most up to date Android OS (in this case Android Pie)? For god sakes plan ahead! Make it happen for once. Always behind the curve on Android OS!!!!! Come on Sammy!  You guys are way to large of a company not to be on top of this.

I’ve been looking on line and I’ve read it might be released in February. 6 months later ! A half a year since it’s release. That’s just ridiculous and unacceptable for a company of this caliber don’t you think?

Considering how many carriers have Samsung devices and the time frame for testing Pie on the Note 9. Six months after release is pretty reasonable.

I beg to differ. Samsung is well aware when a new OS is being worked on and released. They should have been conducting their testing along side the beta testing of Android Pie, with google. At the very least for their flagship phones such as the S9, S9+ & Note 9. Also, google implemented a new underlining code to the OS specifically to allow easier and faster implementation for carriers and the hardware companies that use Android OS. So I’m sorry, having to wait 6 months after a new release before getting Android Pie is obserd.

@AEMarz I myself have been wondering how Project Treble was going to be working out concerning how Samsung would send out major OS updates. There hasn't been a clear answer as of yet. We may be pleasantly surprised, so just keep your fingers crossed for sooner rather than later! 🙂

Does it really matter in the long run if it is released next month, or 6 months from now? For me, not really.

I agree.  If the new device works smooth and quick out of the box with the current OS, it's almost like a bonus getting a new OS 6 months later.  It's almost like getting an entirely new device over night without paying a dime when a new OS drops for a 6 month old device. Just my thoughts. 

Besides, anyone that's had an unlocked flagship device from Samsung knows updates are not frequent and what you would think they would be (or advertised as quite honestly).  6 months in my opinion sounds closer to a pleasant dream than what I truly expect to happen.

Lol. I hear you. I feel you a forced to justify it. Good way of looking at it. But I’m not going to buy a brand new Mercedes Benz and have them tell me hey it’s capable of adaptive cruise control, emergency self braking, lane change alert, self parking, night vision BUT we will activate or update it to up to date software next year when we are able to impliment it. 

Now the same class BMW comes with all those options up to date and ready to go the moment your roll off the lot. 🤷🏻‍:male_sign:

Lol I dont know if I'd say forced to justify it or forced to deal with it.  Either way, I'll have my Note9 in about 10 days and I doubt I'll be horribly disappointed over the OS that I'm using on my 9+ now! 

By your analogy, I can only assume you'll never buy a new car that is electric!  Like Tesla, they get updates frequently OTA! And yes, they get better with each one!

Well then my friend there you go. At the end of the day as long as you’re happy then that’s all that matters. We can agree to have different expectations of what a $1,387 flagship phone should have when released. I feel it should be on point and up to date. You accept and tolerate the delay and have a perspective of having a feel of a new device with a new OS. 

I guess a lot has to do with being use to the pattern of OS updates. I’m switching from an iPhone X to the Note 9. You are already an Android user. So we can agree to disagree and hope we get the update sooner than later. Fingers crossed.
