Unexpected and relativity frequent reboots are now plaguing my Note9.

Does not seem to be a power issue, I am thinking a software problem. It does show logos upon power down and power up, so its not a hard shutdown. The reboots are generally happening when I am not actively using the phone. It can have nothing running in the foreground and be locked, and will just reboot. Earlier, it was shutting down and not turning back on. But pressing power would work just fine, and bring it back on. It also reboots whether on battery or on charger.

I got a log file but its massive and am unsure how to debug it.

There have been a few app updates but nothing too crazy, just Google, Messenger, and 3-4 other apps. No real system settings have changed. When I opened the Samsung Members app it sent a bug report to Samsung regarding crash/rebooting but I got no other context or details. The hardware diagnostics found nothing wrong. I had to manually create my own log dump in the dev settings to even get a copy of it.

Let me know what else I can share or do to get some help with this. Thanks

Have you tried booting into safe mode? If you do that and it keeps doing it, then it's a hardware issue. If not then it's one of your recently installed apps that's doing it.

To boot a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 into Safe Mode, you can try these steps:

Press and hold the Power button until the Power off prompt appears.Touch and hold Power off.Tap Safe mode to confirm. After the device powers on, "Safe Mode" should appear in the bottom left or right corner of the screen.

In Safe Mode, the phone only has access to core apps that came pre-installed. If a problem doesn't occur in Safe Mode, it's likely caused by a downloaded third-party app.

Just in case you don't know how

Hello, Welcome to the Community. We understand how frustrating it is for the phone to randomly restart itself. Do you have Auto Optimization turned on in Settings>Device care?

I would try wiping the cache partition on your device and see if that helps any.

- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.
- An 'Installing system update' message will show for 30 - 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
- Press the Power key to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.

If the phone continues to restart randomly, it is recommended to have the phone evaluated at an authorized service center. You can use the following link to find a list of service centers near you that can do the repair: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/location or by contacting customer support at 1-800-726-7864.
