I have a Galaxy Note 9 phone that works and has all the features I want. Because there is not an updated version of this phone I would like to suggest to Samsung the ability to pay for additional years of updating the software. An extended package so to speak.
Just like you can get with a car, bumper to bumper.
This could be an option to purchase a couple of months before the 7 year updates would stop. Win win for both parties, Samsung makes money and people who don't want or cannot afford a new phone can keep the one they have and Samsung increases there customer loyalty.
@Lori_1 It sounds simple, but it isn't the same as extending a hardware warranty.
To provide updated software for extended periods, you would need a team of developers to create the update, you would need a team of testers to test the update, you would need the carriers to agree to accept, test, and distribute the update. Overall, a lot of effort and cost.
It could be done, but I'm sure Samsung would need to evaluate the cost and complexity relative to how many of those devices are in use.
I agree with you because when you get down to it you're looking at testing updates you're looking at servers you're looking at bandwidth you're looking at a lot of money just for it devices only few people have so it's a great waste of money to have to keep that going and not to mention if there was an option to do that I guarantee you would almost be the price of a new phone
it's not about it being a hardware update, it's the fact that it has actually nothing to do with the hardware. it's all about the technical specifications. and i'm pretty sure phone like that does not have enough to run one ui7 for example
Just like tvs, air fryers, dishwashers, microwaves, and now even cars, cell phones are built with planned obsolescence so you need to purchase a new one every few years.
Thanks for the information, I am not tec savvy and did not realize all the steps that are involved to update a phone. Guess I will continue to look for a phone with the options I enjoy in the this one.
