Battery draining, phone feels warmer

So does anyone know if it is possible to rollback to One UI 6.1, keep getting security updates for 6.1, and stay with 6.1 until One UI 8 is available?

This battery drain issue is ridiculous. Wasting half a day getting everything reverted back to how I had it setup before the update was bad enough, but this persistent battery drain issue no matter what steps I take to mitigate it is infuriating.

My phone feels warmer, it can't possibly be good for the battery, and I'm getting 2 to 3 hours less run time per charging cycle than I did before the update. Is this going to turn into one of those **bleep** class action lawsuits where multitudes of people sue for phone batteries degrading/failing faster than they should have?

Sorry for the rant, but... 🤦‍:male_sign:

So I have been battling this excessive battery drain issue since updating to One UI 7 like most other people. Well today by mere chance I decided to check my sleeping and deep sleeping apps list. Both lists were empty. Evidently the update reverted every app back to always active. Which means every **bleep**g app in my phone has been trying to run in the background as often as it wants to.

So I manually went in and added every app back to sleep or deep sleep the way I had it before the update. Over 130 apps into deep sleep mode again, and about a dozen apps in sleep mode again. It appear this was my battery drain issue, and it may be yours as well. Good luck to everyone.

Great advice!

Be aware that when apps are in deep sleep, they will not show up in the Playstore for updates. Which really isn't a problem, you will get a notification when opening an app that it has to be updated first.

I am surprised this happened. This didn't happen going from OneUI 5 to 6.

I have my apps go in deep sleep if they haven't been used in 30 days. I have all in sleep mode. Sleeping doesn't really do anything to an app.

Yes, but the update threw all of my apps out of sleep and deep sleep modes. So, for the past week, every app that I previously had in sleep or deep sleep mode was back to always being active. This was causing most of my battery drain issue. Yeah, in 30 days, they would go back into deep sleep if not used, but that's 30 days of excessive battery drain just because an update changed the previous settings. I'm just trying to make people aware so they don't have to wait 30 days for things to get somewhat back to normal.

I get it, when I transfered from my S24U to my S25U I guess it transfered all my settings.

I didn't have an update that over wrote settings.

I was also in the Beta on my S24U so I didn't have to make the changes I already had on my S24U.

That makes sense. I am on an older S21fe. As I mentioned before, these settings didn't change going from One UI 5 to 6, but it did this time going from 6 to 7. Strange, and it has taken me over a week to catch it. A week of me thinking One UI 7 is really messed up. Between clearing the cache and putting all of my apps back to how they were before, my battery drain issue has pretty much been resolved now. I'm just trying to help some people, if possible, by sharing some information.

Kudos to you for finding this solution.

Terrible for those that never brother looking for a solution before posting. The majority of posts are rinse and repeat posts. Dozens of them.

If people would search first, don't find an answer then post their problems would be solved so much faster.

Then there are just the complainers, I'm switching to an iPhone threats. Just to have to learn a whole new OS. They make me laugh.

Absolutely. I posted about the battery drain issue a few days ago myself asking if anyone had found a solution. Someone linked me to instructions on clearing the cache, and I tried it. Helped a little, but not near enough. So I kept digging and figured this out today by being persistent.
