Galaxy S Phones
I still owe 7 installments on my S9. Will the phone work on another network if I pay it off and get it carrier unlocked?
OR is it a better idea to upgrade to a newer device that is compatible with this new T-Mobile network? I'd rather not buy another brand new phone. I'm hoping I can unlock it and move to a different carrier but don't want to waste the money.

You need to first know if your fone is carrier locked. If so you would have to jump through carrier hoops to get it unlocked. 1 hoop is paying if off. 2 Is meeting their requirements to unlock the sim. Once unlocked it will work with any carrier sim. All s9 snapdragon devices have same hardware. Its the software that separates them.
