My chat feature in messages just randomly quit working and when I try to re-enable it I get a pop up that say "registration failed". I have no idea why or how to fix it. I've tried restarting my phone, I've cleared the cache and data in the settings, I've tried it on wifi and on mobile data and still the same result everytime. Has anyone else had this issue or anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it??

It could be a bug. Clearing the data should have fixed it but try deleting and reinstalling the app

I have Xfinity Mobile and I'm just using the regular Samsung Messages app. Also, now after clearing the data and cache whenever I opened the app back up and went to settings the "chat features" option is still there but it is now grayed out.

Have you tried Google Messages? They have RCS chat available on most phones. Certain models (mainly unlocked and certain carriers) can't get Samsung chats to activate/they deactivate them. Even I don't have that ability on my S22 Ultra, that's why I used Google Messages. šŸ˜„ If you reach out to your carrier, they might have more info about this.
