So I have read through all the posts stretching back over the past year relating to burst mode and can confirm that this infuriating feature has a tendency to go off randomly with the briefest press of the shutter button, rotating the camera, zooming etc. Other times it seems to behave as intended - that is, burst starts whilst holding the button and stops when releasing it.
I am am unable to detect any logic or consistency in the behaviour.
So so the problem appears to stem from:
1. A specialised feature that Is enabled by default and can't be disabled
2. A serious bug in that same feature
This is just about as serious as things can be (short of the thing bursting into flames)
Result: ditch the camera. Annoying as this is one of the main reasons for buying the phone.
I wonder if Samsung have ever paused to consider the number of users out there who try to take pictures with this phone and are QUIETLY deciding that it's a heap of rubbish

I suspect that when you are taking a photo, your finger is resting on the shutter activation button. Try just tapping it instead of letting your finger 'hover' on it.

Yes. We know what's causing it. Users like me are trying to disable it. We are trying to avoid tapping, we prefer touching the button (to avoid changing composition, blurred shots and most importantly, 100 shots of the same thing that fills the camera memory).
If we need burst mode, we know how to get it. Majority of my shots don't need 100 in a burst. So I want to turn it off. HOW?

Samsung must be aware of this by now and are choosing to ignore the requests for a change to the camera app.
Suggest you do what I have chosen to do and move to a new app - in my case Camera FV-5.

Amazing the ingenuity offered by users of this app to overcome what is a simple deficiency in the design of the user interface. The refusal on the part of Samsung to fix this is simply incredible.

no it has a mind of its own, no finger on shoot button it bursts by itself and won't stop

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned using the "S Voice" (Samsung Voice) app on their Galaxy phone to use a voice command such as "Shoot" or "Cheese" to trigger the shutter -- for one shot! I use it all the time to minimize vibrations and also to prevent any burst issues.

Not brilliant if you're trying to photograph wildlife though. SHOOT! Oh dear, they've all run away
The point is that we can't disable this useless and unwanted "feature" and that Samsung isn't listening.

I actually metioned this on the last page.

I clicked on camera settings and selected "Reset Settings". The burst mode was disabled after doing this.
Hope it helps.
