So earlier today i did a one tap on the lockscreen and i qould see a faint fingerprint reader that was cool. A double tap or phone vertical raise, shows the brighter fingerprint reader. So now, the single tap on the lockscreen doesnt activate that faint finger print reader for some reason. Not sure why not.

Hey @G-ProPIA, how are you doing today?

The taps you did and saw different brightness of the Fingerprint sensor icon sound like they were just a coincidence. I believe that this was auto brightness in effect.

If you go to: Settings>Locks screen>Always on display> you'll see an option called "Auto brightness."

This feature as it sounds will adjust the brightness of the Always on display automatically based on the lighting of the surrounding area.

I hope this helps you understand what was happening and if you need any further assistance with anything, feel free to contact me.

Have a great rest of your weekend!

Thanks, but it isnt set on auto-brightness.  I just tried changing to that and it didnt create that one tap faint fingerprint reader either. Does anyone have any other explanations for why this went away? I kinda like the one tap activation of that faint fingerprint onscreen.

Ok, so i solved this. It has nothing to do with adaptive brightness or auto brightness.  THat wasnt the problem here.  This is actually a setting under the Biometrics, then fingerprints, then Show icon when screen is off.  You tap screen once and you see that faint fingerprint reader/icon.  Somehow i toggled that back to off when i was setting up another fingerprint.  It is back on and that faint fingerprint icon is back now after the single tap!  SOLVED!

Now while i am here, it would be nice to have 6 fingerprints, instead of just 4.  I like 2 per finger and i like to use 3 different fingers.  I sent Samsung some feedback on that.  WOrks great though.

Sorry, I misunderstood what you meant by "faint" fingerprint icon. Anyways, glad you got it figured out. Have a great rest of your day!

No, that is incorrect.  The Always On Display was always on.  It was never shut off. This is wrong. I solved the issue above and explained it pretty well.

No problem. Yeah, the one tap gives you a less bright fingerprint icon there. The double tap gives you a bright one. So i described that. They are not the same brightness. You can try the setting and see for yourself. Have a good one.

Yeah, my apologies. The "bright one" is when the display is completely on whereas the "faint" one is on the AOD.

Thank you for choosing Samsung, have a great day @G-ProPIA.

Yes, you got it. Single tap keeps u in lock screen and you get that lighter icon... even with the full brightness setting for lockscreen always on display. Double tap or vertical lift, takes you to the wallpaper screen and you get the well-visible icon...that is brighter. Have a good one.
