Hello,

My about 2 year old Galaxy S9 all of a sudden is not connecting to cellular network. It also disconnected from WiFi and not able to find any WiFi networks. First I thought that SIM card has gone bad, so contacted the Cellular service and got a new one. While changing the SIM, I popped out the SIM tray, and experienced a familiar smell matching what we call brown smell due to overheating/burning of electronics components. Never noticed any smoke.

Installing the new SIM did not resolve the issue. The phone still can't connect to cellular nor to WiFi. It appears that the radio module has gone bad for whatever reasons. Has anyone experienced something similar? Is it repairable?

I would sincerely appreciate a response. Thanks.

I would recommend a network reset on the phone. It only messes with the network portion of the phone Cellular, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and fixes alot of issues. Settings, About, Reset then network reset.

Thanks for your recommendation.

That's the first thing I did in my effort to troubleshoot and after switching several SIM cards. The phone is also not able to detect any WiFi signals out there.
