New s9 purcahsed in the US , updated the Samsung update this morning, and this error keeps coming up, tried Samsung Australia ,  was told since it is a US phone, only the US can help you, contacted the US help centre (in India ), spent 3 hours chatting , tried very single option, answered every single question,  was told cannot help you, contact the Australian office, unbelievable ...Samsung would show such disregard. Shocked. No one was willing to give me any further contact names for Samsung management to escalate the issue, Have tried all the fixes on line , nothing seems to work. Really disappointed  SCAMsung....

1) Check to see if you have WiFi calling support in your phone, if yes, turn that off.

2) If you remove your sim card, the phone should stop IMS service error from happening.

3) Try another operator sim card

Lastly, look at the thread below:

Hi thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, the issue seems to be  common (at least) among US sold s9/s9+ that are used with any Australian operator. Removing the SIM card is not really a fix anyway... Also, before the update there was the WiFi Calling in my settings, and it disappeared after the update thus it is impossible to turn it on/off.

I spent the afternoon in a Samsung store (useless) and Optus put a new SimCard in just in case. Didn't change a thing. Deleted ALL my apps impulsively/desperately. No change. What to do?!

WiFi Calling disappeared is probably because of IMS isn't working properly which is needed to have a functioning wifi calling.

You know what...try something else:

Go to settings>apps>tap 3 dots on top right and select show system apps...search or find IMS service in the list.  Tap on it, go to storage and clear data.  See if it resolves anything(restart your phone at this point might be good too)

You may find other IMS items in that list, you can clear data on these items too only IF clearing data on IMS service didn't help

Just tried your suggestion. Clear data wasn't a clickable option. Clear cache didn't fix it.

I appreciate the new suggestion but I imagine we all still expect an actual fix to this update. I have been putting it off on my own phone, after it happened to my partners, but I cant put it off forever, and not knowing if Samsung values its international users enough to put a fix through is becoming a very nervy ordeal. I don't need anyone to say they will have the fix today. I would love any indication that there is a *plan* to fix it. Because the troubleshooting alone is only making me think that eventually the mods will give up and we will be left in the cold.

Hi there! Same situation, S9 with IMS issue after update. I moved from US so my phone is a US unlocked. When I plug in a different sim card (I tried the Spanish SIM of Orange and the US SIM of T-Mobile) the phone works well. Please, investigate the issue asap otherwise I will have to change carrier.
