When editing a video there is a feature when you click on the scissors that allows you to clip a video. However I have no ability to show you this in an image because when I screenshot it does not display all components on the screen. But if you click on the scissors and you touch the timeline you'll notice a couple options which allows you to instantly drag the left or right side of the video into the into the marker or otherwise specified place on the timeline. If only these options would appear when you pause the video then you could accurately end or begin the video without having to drag your finger across the timeline to find the perfect spot and then play it and hope that it's lined up and then repeat it over and over again. The symbols have a line in the middle of a box and either the left or right side of the Box are perforated. Again I screenshot it and those features disappear from the screenshot so I can't make it make any more sense. I also used to be able to go to an advanced editing mode which required me to select an additional video or photo just to enter the advanced editing mode and then I would delete the unneeded image or video. This is where you could add music and had more options when it came to cutting out parts from the center of the video rather than just chopping off one or the other end. I think at one point I even had to utilize the same video twice and then re-splice it together after clipping the front of one and the end of the other to put them together to get rid of something in the middle of the video which is easily done using any editing software. Of course we can't make things simple.
Samsung please update the gallery so these little symbols pop up when we press pause rather than only when we touch the timeline 🙏

It's really hard to understand what you are trying to convey here, as you do not have any paragraph breaks and many run-on sentences.  I had to read it many times. You should be able to tap anywhere in the video frame to select the segment of video you want to cut or edit.  You should still be able to play the video in the editor and when you pause it, the indicator will be at the proper frame.  That little speaker symbol on the bottom right, is where you add your soundtrack.  More advanced editing, such as cutting out a middle frame(s) and just using the remainder, would likely require a more advanced video editing app than is provided by the phone.

Lol. It erased the first time, and I didn't want to spend time doing it to begin with so the second time around I realize I could have put in chat GPT and fixed it but I figured someone like you could figure it out. The indicator only appears when you put your finger on the timeline. The indicator should appear when you pause the video. This way you could play and pause and make the adjustment rather than trying to touch the exact spot. In some cases it could jump 30 seconds to a minute (even the landscape mode) because it is so fickle. By the way is the advanced editing Mode still available or did they get rid of it? I noticed in portrait video mode, they've removed glitch, and everything else besides blur ( I went from the s23 Ultra to the s25 ultra)

@Prime_Optimization I would recommend a new tactic and try Studio.

  1. In Gallery, click the 3 line menu in lower right.
  2. Click "Go to Studio".
  3. Click "Start new project".
  4. Select your video.
  5. Click on Done.
  6. Now you have some expanded editing tools.

Yes, that's what I really want to happen. 🤌 To be watching a video, pause it, and have to worry that I might accidentally edit it.

It's easy, pause it, and note the time stamp, hit edit, then move the slide to match. Watch the preview to make sure it looks right, then save.

Lol. I'm talking about pressing play during trim mode which one has to do regardless if they're editing. When you touch the timeline the options appear but then you have to touch the cursor which moves it in order for those options to appear rather than just pressing pause

Haha. I see.

If the cursor is in the middle of the edit, grab it and drag it all the way to the end, and hit play. It will jump to the front and play the cut you've selected.

Or, what I think you might also mean is...

In edit, press play. When the video is where you'd like to edit the video to begin, pause it. Press and hold the cursor, then release. Tap the left icon that pops up and the beginning marker will move to the cursor's current location.

Press play and do the same for the right side.

Press play and the cursor will play the edit you've selected.
