No longer able to add custom notification sound to a group text.

I've had a text group for a while with a custom notification sound. I recently added a new member to the group, which resets the chat. I have been trying to add the same notification sound but can't find that option anymore.

I just updated my Note 10+ to the S23 Ultra, and I'm having the same trouble. I can select custom notifications for individual people but not for group texts. It is so frustrating because I use the custom group text sound to identify different work clients.

I switched to Google Messages.

Instead of clicking on group message to open it, long press (hold down) on it and notification option comes up on bottom.

What I am curious about is what imbecile thought this was a good idea?

That only turns the notification sound on and off. You cannot set a custom tone anymore.
