Can anyone help? I don't get a notification sound when i am receiving a message/sms from a sender and our message/chat window is still open. I get a sound though when our message/chat window is closed or just running in the background (minimized). I think this is not case with the previous phone/or android version that i have. Anyone?
You'll need to get into settings within the message service/app you use end then notifications. Within notifications there should be an option called something like in-app

I have no idea what this previous answer is talking about, but i will try that advice. I have the same issue and always have. I've been w the Galaxy a loooong time, back to the S6. most recent is S21, and STILL same bs. I toke a break the last 2 yrs, and tried the google pixel. guess what, doesn't do this. you can have the text message open, AND get sound notification. I called Samsung the other day, and the guy thought i was nuts. or making this up.
I do have everything turned on. case in pt, i DO get sound notifications, but i have to have the text message closed.
