Hi team

I’d like to share some feedback regarding the current notification settings on Samsung phones. Compared to stock Android, the experience feels less intuitive and lacks clarity.

Specifically, I’d appreciate having more granular control over app notifications—particularly the ability to disable promotional notifications. Unfortunately, this option appears to be missing in One UI 7.

Re-enabling this feature would greatly enhance the overall user experience. I hope you’ll consider this improvement in future updates.

Those controls already exist on your phone. If you want granular control over the types of notifications you receive or give an app or specific notification type from an app, a custom sound, you will have to turn notification categories on.  To do this, go to settings/notifications/advanced settings/manage notification categories for all apps.  Then return to the app settings you want specific notifications for (or do not want notifications from), tap on the notifications, then tap on categories, then go down the list of categories (if any.  Not all apps have categories) and turn on/off the ones you desire.  When you have turned the category notifications on, usually, what you set as the notification sound for the first (main) category will be the default for the app, but you can tap on individual categories and give it a different sound and notification style than the app's default.
