Can someone help me figure out how to stop certain apps, like snapchat from popping up and covering the top portion of my screen? I do not want to silence notifications I just want that to stop.

Well you could try, go to settings - notifications then scroll down to recently sent it will show you a few apps then press see all and look for your desired app in this case snapchat, when you found it click on the snapchat and not the blue tab next to it, it will open up settings for that particular app and from there on you can control what that app can and cannot do.

Thanks but I found a solution. All I had to do was turn on slide edging and it made the notifications much smaller
