Galaxy S PhonesI updated my phone with the latest software update. When it restarted it asked me for a password to asccess my device even though I have never set up my phone with a password to access it. I have tried possible passwords I may have used and my google/verizon/samsung accounts password. None worked. I've talked to Verizon and Google support and both recommend a factory reset by neither can reset my phone. I don't mind doing a factory reset, but I can't even power my phone down to access the boot up options. I've noticed a few others have had this issue, and I've tried their suggestions but none are working.
What is the solution that Samsung is working to fix their last update issue?

Galaxy S PhonesCrazy, isn't it?! I talked with them this morning and was told the same. Can you receive calls? My daughter and I tested it, no luck. It rings, both phones show the connection made and time counting, but we couldn't hear each other. I expressed concern to rep and she said they will contact me via email. I'll update here when I hear from them.

Galaxy S PhonesI can receive calls on mine, and I can use my bluetooth in my truck to make out going calls and receive them but I cannot access my phone at all, I have to talk to bluetooth. I have US Cellular as a provider and they are completely lost so they sent me to ubreakifix and they had no clue so they gave me the number for Samsung. I am so sick of these providers and tech giants blaming each other on whose fault it is. I expect as a customer spending $800 on a phone that there shouldnt be any issues with it. I get that there are glitches but to lock people out of their phones is utterly ridiculous!

Galaxy S PhonesThe same thing happened to me. Went to the Verizon store and they had to do a hard reset. Now I am back up and running after reinstalling everything.

Galaxy S PhonesThanks for sharing that, I got nowhere with Verizon. They basically passed me off to Samsung.
Since you had to reinstall everything, was it a factory reset? Did you lose a lot of stuff?

Galaxy S PhonesI wasn't able to do a factory reset they way it said to. I kept entering a password until it said 1 more attempt and it will do it a factory reset automatically.
I lost everything. My google had last updated 2 hrs prior but my text and call history hadn't since june 24. And no pictures for that day were available.
Very upsetting. Wish I had tried to have done a recovery attempt right away before reloading everything.

Galaxy S PhonesI was thinking about doing the same, but the only hesitation that I have is that since the update is now in the phone, is it gonna keep locking you out?

Galaxy S PhonesHave you been prompted to do the system update since the reset? Also, have you turned off your phone since then? I was locked out yesterday but after 30 min chat with Samsung I was able to get my phone to accept my password after a hard stop. The phone said "loading " for about 10 min then finally opened my home screen. However, last night I turned it off when I went to bed like I always have and then this morning it was asking for a password again even though I had set it up for swipe unlock. I am now locked out and doing a hard stop several times has not had the same result as yesterday.
