I am beyond angry right now. Tuesday morning I received a notification of my Galaxy A s10 phone saying I had a new system update to install. I did the update and when my phone booted back up I was asked to enter a password that I NEVER set up to be able to open my phone. I have had this phone for a little over two months and have installed previous updates and never had this issue before. I went to the help section on you website and it stated after several failed sign in attempts I would be given the option to sign in with my google account, I was never given this option. The last resort was to do a full factory reset which I unfortunately had to end up doing. I had to spend all morning setting up my pone from square one. After doing some asking around on the internet I see that I am not the first Samsung customer this has happened to. I am disappointed and furious because of this situation I lost recent family pictures but not the picture I took last night at work, lost game progress that can not not be recovered are well as other important files. I hope something like this never happens again, I am not sure what I will do if it dose.
Solved! Go to Solution.
It's a very unfortunate thing to happen however there's two backup options on the phone.
Try checking either of these to see if anything has been backed up. Photos, videos.
Game progress is often saved on the cloud and linked to your Google account.
I have 4 different cloud backups solutions aswell as a physical backup on my PC.
The Primary authentification method, such as the PIN, password, or Pattern, will be required to get into the device if the device has been rebooted. This password would have been setup during initial activation and setup of the device.

Yeah it's terrible the exact same thing has happened to me.
I am 1 million % sure that I did not setup a text-based password on installing my phone.
I setup a 5-digit pincode as this was required to continue and then I setup my finger print.
I chose setup later for the text-based password.
I installed an update and got prompted with the need to input a text-based password.
I am not prompted with the 5 digit number one, nor my fingerprint. I have always used my 5 digit code after updates/restart, and never setup/needed a text-based one.
I have tried my google password, my samsung password, my 5-digit code and the 3 only other passwords that I use, but to no avail.
Absolutely lost, a factory reset is not acceptable
