Galaxy S Phones

Hello everyone! I've been toying around with the idea of upgrading to a galaxy S23 when it comes out. My Galaxy S10 has just recently lost support, and will be staying on one ui 4.1.

The phone works very well, and is still in very good condition. The battery has degraded, but it is still very usable and gives me a very fair amount of screen time.

Two things that I would really enjoy about the new phones are the higher refresh rate, and the better camera. (There's also less shutter lag with a newer processor)

I know alot about phones, I was just wondering what you guys think.

And samsung, why do you give us such a short update policy. This phone started on the first one ui, and now 4 years later it's already out of support.

I have friends with iPhone 8s that are still supported. This short update policy is completely unfair, and you're just trying to earn money and make people but new phones.

The truth is, people could be tempted by iphones because of the longer software support.

Back to to the main reason of this post, do you think its worth upgrading to an s23?

Sounds like your mind is already made up, why did you even bother asking the question?

The part about software support is just letting the moderator know. Because the community moderator responds to some of the suggestion posts and says they'll keep it in mind.

I'm just hoping for any way to get longer software support.

Be glad you got android 12. Android used to be 2 years max
Now it's 4 with another year of security

Yes, android 12 (one ui 4) was definitely a surprise updating. Extending the 3 year update policy to 4.

But why can't they provide 5-6 years like apple? Don't get me wrong, I love samaung and I'm never going back to apple.

But if an iPhone 8 can get the latest software, my galaxy s10 should definitely have the latest. It seems unfair.

Keep in mind 1. The number of devices. Apple makes at most, 5 phones a year (4 of the newest series and an SE) plus at most, 5 ipads (2 pro sizes, air, mini, and base).

Samsung makes at least 5 a series phones (a0x, a1x, a3x, a5x, a7x), 4 s series phones (sX sX+, sX ultra, sX FE), 2 z series phones (,zflip x, zfold x), at least 3 tablets (tab sX tab sX+, tab sX ultra) with possible a series tablets. Plus several j series and m series phones.

Apple makes their own software from the ground up, so they can build their software to be easier to upgrade. Samsung uses android which they do not make, and then they modify android, which take a lot of work. So it is much harder to support more devices for longer. It is impressive that they are doing 4 years for as many devices as they are.

Even Google, who makes only 2 devices a year (pixel x and pixel x pro) and their upcoming tablet, they only offer 3 years of android updates.

I have the Samsung s21 fe. It's getting 4 years of software updates and the Samsung s23 getting 3 software updates. I understand what you are saying. I like Samsung more then Apple.
