Samsung Music app stopped working

I've had my S9+ for less than two weeks; but in that time, the Samsung Music app has stopped working. A few days ago, it began rapidly cycling through tracks whenever play was selected. No music played, and after quickly cycling through about a dozen tracks, it just stopped in pause mode. This happens whether I'm on shuffle or not, and whether I'm playing songs, albums, always. I've tried problem solving with Samsung Chat, including performing a factory reset, to no avail. The support specialist said it must be a "hardware problem," and recommended I mail the phone to Samsung. I'm about to uninstall and find a different musicmusi. Any ideas? 

 

If it can't be easily repaired, is be interested in recommendations for a different free music app.

Does it do this only on the music located on the SD Card, or the music on the phone? Try transferring music from sd card to phone and once we have that information, we can look futher into assisting you with getting this resolved.

I copied a song folder to internal and tried to play with the same result. The player quickly cycle through all of the tracks, then stopped.

I performed an interesting and entirely unintentional experiment this morning. Faced with another day without music, I decided to try another app. I launched Google Music and, surprise, it demonstrated the same behavior, rapid cycling through tracks then stopping without paying anything! Just to make sure I wasn't crazy, I then downloaded and installed another music app (Double Twist). Same thing again!

 

I'm no expert, but this tells me that the problem is apparently with the phone, not the software. Question is, is the phone defective, or is it a rogue setting?

Also try clearing the cache partition on your phone by following these steps below.

 

- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.
- An 'Installing system update' message will show for 30 - 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
- Press Power key to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.

Let's try backing up your phone and perform a factory reset. If that doesn't work, You can visit your local UBreakIFix in your area by following this link here to perform a software reflash.
