This started out of the blue a couple of days ago, all of the themes seem to be affected,  so thinking it must be a problem with my phone. (S9). When applying a theme, the messages and contacts screens remain white. I have tried to clear out the cache and even data from theme store, rebooting and redownloading themes, nothing seems to work. I have a lot of money tied up in these, not to mention it just doesn't look nice or appealing to have the white amongst rest of the theme. Anyone else? I have also had problems with themes and icons not downloading at all, get an error screen.  I have excellent wifi coverage,  so that's not the problem.  Very frustrated right now.

I could only get the icons & wallpaper from my theme...Go to settings, display, & make sure "Dark Mode" is off! After I turned it off the rest of my theme started working.

In my experience, It all depends on each theme.

Go to:  Settings>Display  and choose dark mode or light mode... depending on the theme, it should work on one of those settings ;) If not, maybe try clearinf cache and data from whichever app you're using to download themes.

Removing dark mode from my settings allowed the theme to change keyboard and messages.

this absolutely works for me. it seems as though choosing dark mode overrides all other settings. the dark mode setting will take priority over all other settings thank you so very much.

I'm glad I found this thread with the same issues because I was getting so frustrated! I didn't even noticed it stopped working after I turned my phone to Dark Mode. I assumed it was from one of the many updates I had, but I cam confirm going from Dark Mode to Light Mode made the themes apply to the Contacts, Messages, and Keypad.

I was having the same issues and took my phone off of dark mode, suggested earlier in this thread, and it solved my issues completely!  I have a Samsung Galaxy A11 for clarification.  Everyone should try this first before attempting more complicated solutions.  Thanks whom ever suggested the dark mode off idea it was the solution for me!

Guys, try leaving Dark Mode. Earlier this year I noticed that switching on dark mode cancels the themes' effect on the messaging app (the stock one, obviously) and the call/contacts screen.

It just fixed the problem for me after I went as far as performing a factory reset today. Then I remembered what happened earlier this year and simply went back to light mode and voila!! Problem fixed!! I must've switched dark mode on, forgetting it cancels the themes' effect.

Hope this helps.
