HELP !!! I update my phone, it disconnected from my SYNC (Bluetooth) in my 2013 Ford Escape and will not reconnect. I deleted from my list of phones and tried to re-add it. Will not work, my husbands pixel connected. So it has to be the new update that is blocking it somehow.

@Memi2them We find Ford SYNC the only, and most, frustrating thing about our Ford. I recommend that you delete the pairing from your phone and then reset the SYNC system. Unfortunately SYNC sometimes gets in these weird states and there is nothing that you can do except reset it.

My Bluetooth has done the same thing. I've repaired the phone and still nothing has worked. It has to be the update

I have a 2016 Ford C-Max Energi. Works like it should. I've been updating Sync software over the years.

I have a 2013 Escape. I did  not know you needed to update SYNC, they never told me that. I tried to do it with the USB drive and it did not do anything. The dealership wants $200 to do it, NOPE. So my husband is going to look at it tomorrow at his work.

Any advice to how it should be done?

I've had issues with both the update via wifi and USB, the two or three times I've updated, so each time I took it to the dealer. The first was when my Bluetooth connection stopped working, as I was working then and had the monies, and just kept it updated as they rolled them out. I retired in March of 2020, so I don't have a commute and drive less than 2k miles a year, so as long as it continues to work, I'm not looking to update it.

I use Android Auto, via USB cable, for long drives as it is a much better UI than Sync.

My model has a 3G modem, which can no longer access the network. Ford sent me a notice letting me know of the coming service disruption long before it quit. I took it to the dealer to have an upgrade installed (4G), but they could never get it to work. No big deal. I don't need to connect to the car via the Ford Pass app anyway. I can lock the doors and remote start the car with the key fob. When I was working, it was nice to remote start my car from my desk to heat or cool it before driving home in the winter cold and summer heat. I don't need to do that anymore.

All in all, I have a great car that's paid for and is giving me 66 miles to the gallon. My experiences with my local Ford dealer has always been positive too.

I was able to get my phone re-added to the car's synced devices after putting my phone in airplane mode with bluetooth on, then re-pairing.

Only worked for a short while though.
