Can't remove apps from home screen S10e

JUMP TO SOLUTION

Hi all,

I have a brand new S10e out of the box. When I hold down any app from the home screen, my only options are "uninstall", "select items" and "app info". There is no "remove from home screen" option.

I have tried developer options settings but there appears to not be much there to change.

I have tried to research this and find an answer but I can't see anything like this.

I would appreciate any advice as it's annoying the he'll out of me.

Go into your settings, apps, go to the One UI Home app , storage and do clear cache first. See if that works, If not, clear cache and clear data. Then reset your home theme, that usually clears up issues with a launcher.

I use Nova, more options, better system.

I have the 10 plus, hold the button down, and there is a remove from home option. Meaning it will remove it from your home screen.

Thanks for your time but my point is that option does not appear for me.

Does it do it if you boot in safe mode?

To get into safe mode,

  • Press and hold the power button until the 3 icons appear.
  • Press and hold on the "Power off" icon until the "Safe mode" icon appears.
  • Click on the "Safe mode" icon to reboot in safe mode.

Thanks for the suggestion. Tried it and still no "remove from home screen".

Go into your settings, apps, go to the One UI Home app , storage and do clear cache first. See if that works, If not, clear cache and clear data. Then reset your home theme, that usually clears up issues with a launcher.

I use Nova, more options, better system.

Clearing both cache and data worked! Thanks so much.

Very welcome! That procedure will usually work for many different apps if you have trouble in the future... This boot into safe mode and tell me what you see, is nonsense unless it has to do with the OS itself.
