Hey there @userw5EilrcO8k! So sorry to hear about this happening to you!
As a point of fact, Best Buy definitely shouldn't have removed the preinstalled screen protector, or even advised you to do so. Big no-no on their part due to liability reasons.
Just for a bit of clarification, the phone had a superficial crack on the screen protector from falling in between the seats; when the screen protector was removed was when you noticed the crack?
Sorry about your luck. I've had a Samsung phone back to the Note 3, now I have the Note 10+. I've dropped and broken previous screens, all my fault. But even yesterday, I threw my phone a good 4 feet because I was recording a spider and the thing lunged at me from its web! Still not broken! I am using a Speck cover, which claims to be designed for impact. No cracks yet!
The phones screens is resilient, but Best Buy is technically at fault for damaging the screen further. Plus the screen protect is to prevent scratches, not leave a huge gash on the glass. I would just return it and buy it from Samsung.
