Re: Facebook app uninstall!

JUMP TO SOLUTION

Check out Package Disabler, it will disable even apps and services that are grayed out in the Apps Settings. It's not free, and you should be careful as it can actually break things, but if you feel like you need to, you can give it a try.

@Geno71 well said @Geno71! Disabled apps certainly don't run in the background, collect or send data, or pretty much anything else. 🙂

Gday mate! I noticed the same thing but I used the 'Force Stop' option in the phone, then at the bottom pressed 'App details in store' + Uninstalled from the Google Play Store. Hope this helps you...  Take Care ALL!  ☮️ PJ Peace - Twitter@SADPOPPI, for now.

Re: Facebook app uninstall!

JUMP TO SOLUTION

Why does it show up when I am running a device care? I have never had Facebook on this phone. Do I own this phone or does Samsung? And as far as Facebook's claims that they're not tracking us, I'm sorry I don't believe a company that's run by Mark Zuckerberg. this is the same guy that's letting misinformation about politicians go wild on his platform and letting people tell lies about vaccines and whatever else they are promoting. Facebook is a swamp and I can't wait until it's broken up into as many pieces as possible.

Please let us uninstall the Facebook app. "Disabling" it is not good enough. If Facebook is so embedded into the system that you can't let me uninstall it, that's a problem.

Facebook has a long history of mishandling data and they should not get a default spot on my phone.

@UsrBinAnnika

Mishandling data... sure they do have some history, but that's data that their users gave them willingly. They never collect any data from your phone if you're not signed in and don't give it any access permissions. It just sits there doing absolutely nothing. Nothing to worry about. You can disable it so it doesn't bother you, and as I explained above, the effect is the same as uninstalling the app, just a very small amount of storage is still used to keep some of their files.

The real question is why wouldn't we be able to delete the installer and anything associated with FB? Why do we have to settle for disabling the app instead of removing it completly?

Re: Facebook app uninstall!

JUMP TO SOLUTION

I found this topic with the same intention: accidently got aware it seems to be impossible to remove f from some galaxies, and now am investigating which phones are affected and whether there are options to deal with it.

Otherwise it is a showstopper for me. I am not in the tinfoilhat camp, but the "features" of the f app are really well documented. So if someone simply does'nt want to join that club, why still being forced to pay (via data) for it anyways?

Glad to have learned that one should read the fine print noone typically want's to spend it's live time with, also for SAMSUNG devices. Actually expected to be in better hands with SAMSUNG then somwhere else...

My stance: these are no cheap phones, they don't have to be sponsored by strange bundling deals and therefore the user should be free to use it's device as it suits/is required.

And aqcuiring a phone should be fun, and not involve turning every stone...

As Geno71 already pointed out:

"there is an interesting line in those terms too, it basically says if you disagree with anything, just don't use the phone (and to be and means there is no debate, it is what they said it is)."

So we have a choice. All it takes is knowing this upfront and turn somewhere else. It would just be great if it would be more obvious before you decide, though. At that price, options are closer than for users which have to cope with cheaper phones.

I have the same problem. And because of it i will start off selling all my samsung products. I am tired of all this sniky snake like behavior from corporation and samsung has made the list. I dont even connect my samsung tv to the internet because my remotes microphone. Even if they are not listening, the fact they force you to disable and app instead of uninstalling is a dictatorship and should be illegal.

Re: Facebook app uninstall!

JUMP TO SOLUTION

I feel the same. Since I discovered that Samsung had done a deal with the d-e-v-i-l in pre-installing Facebook on a Google operating system, and not allowing it to be removed, I have now decided to give Samsung an ultimatum.

I do not want Facebook on my phone. I find their acceptance of hate speech and their promotion of political lies to be bad for humanity, and I want it removed from my phone.

I fully expect that Facebook, because of the nature of their obvious agreement with Samsung, is still obtaining my personal details despite being disabled.

If the next Android update does not allow me to uninstall Facebook from my phone, and indeed any other 'app' I so choose, then I will switch my company mobile phones away from Samsung to another phone supplier which will allow me to choose the level of privacy I want.

You have been warned Samsung.

The clock is ticking.
