JUMP TO SOLUTION

Hey I'm new with the androids so I'm hoping its a simple adjustment.

I've been having issues setting a vibrating pattern and specific sound to notify me when receiving text messages.

I've just learned that the vibrating pattern i selected (zig zig zig) only works when i get phone calls.  The specific sound i selected for text messages (chaos) NEVER goes off. Instead the general notification alert (signal) alerts me for all notifications.

I'm hoping its just some setting I'm not adjusting correctly and I don't have to take my phone or bc it's faulty🙄

JUMP TO SOLUTION

Hello,

Does this happen when your device is in safe mode?

Hello,

Does this happen when your device is in safe mode?

Let's try putting the device in Safe mode to determine if there are external factors that cause this symptom. This step will temporarily disable all your third-party apps, but none of your personal data will be deleted. Your customization settings (Wallpaper, Themes, et cetera) will be reset to default once you exit this mode.

Please follow the steps below:

1. Turn the device off.

2. Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen.

3. When "SAMSUNG" appears on the screen, release the Power key.

4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.

5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.

6. Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.

7. Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.

8. To exit Safe Mode, restart your device.

Let us know how your device responds after performing this step!

Re: Notifications

JUMP TO SOLUTION

LOL going in safe mode I realized something I needed to change in settings that I didn't see before so now I have successfully changed the notification sound when receiving notifications.

However the vibrate pattern i selected will ONLY go into action when incoming calls. I have vibrate turned on within my messages app 'new messages' & 'general notifications' but I can only select the type of pattern in the settings under 'notifications'.. maybe I'm missing a small detail again.

Please help 🙂

JUMP TO SOLUTION

I've done some testing on our devices, and the only option to change the vibration pattern is under the Sounds and Vibration menu. Regretfully, the setting only applies to incoming calls.
