I noticed that whenever I make a phone call, I have to actually press my S10 really hard on my ear in order to make the screen go off. It never happened on any of my older phones. The screen would usually turn off while just floating with one finger above the sensor.
Anyone else? Or may I have a faulty device?

Alrighty, if the symptom still occurs in safe mode I would recommend a service repair. You may have a couple of options with how you can go about getting the repair if you wouldn't mind sending us a private message here with your IMEI number we can check on those options for you.
I think there are a few issues with the proximity sensor. I got my S10+ last Tuesday and have noticed that when I pull it out of my pocket, it is warm- not regular pocket warm, more like warm from charging. Sometimes (infrequently) the screen is on and it is doing something, even though I have fingerprint login enabled. Last night I had my phone in my pocket for an hour, didn't touch it at all... I have Good Lock with Nice Catch installed. I checked the report for nice catch during the hour that I didn't use my phone, and the screen was woken up 3 times by Android System for 'Unknown Reason'. I have lift to wake disabled, as well as Double Tap to wake. I think that the proximity sensor should be disabling any type of wakeup activity when the device is in my pocket.
FOr reference, if my phone is sitting on my desk near me for an extended period of time, it never gets warm and I see no instances of system wakeups in Nice Catch.
I'm hoping this is an easy fix for Samsung to implement and it is rolled out soon... this seems like basic functionality that has been around and working 100% for years now.
Yes I definetly also noticed that my S10 (exynos) is most of the times warm/on the edge to hot, when I put it out of my pocket after some time. I turned off lift to wake but left double tap to wake on.
I also think this is one of the issues which causes the huge standby drain I'm experiencing.
Please Samsung, look into this problem!
There are a lot of issues coming with a new phone.
1.The proximity sensor issues. The phone screen is accidentally turning on during the calls, when the phone is on your ear/face/. You should press each time on the power button to turn off the screen, even though it again turns on accidentally after 2-3 minutes talking. So the screen is getting hot and uses more battery. Also, when the phone is in your pocket, it makes accidentally calls by itself
2. The finger print unlock issues . You should press on the finger print to unlock the phone from different - different angles. It does not recognize it is from first attempt.
3. There is no notification led lights on the top of the screen anymore. So, you will not notice if your phone is charging or get fully charged when you plug your into the power charger. Also you will not notice if someone called or messaged you, or if you received emails etc.
* I already purchased 5-6 new Galaxy s10 & 10 plus devices from different stores like T-Mobile, AT&T etc. All of them had the same issues I mentioned below. Also, I sent the phones to Samsung repair center, but they couldn't fix it (the proximity sensor issues) and sent me back the phone with the issues.
There is definitely a problem with the proximity sensor. This is bad and I've reached out to Samsung with no answers or any kind of feedback from them whatsoever. My problem is, with double tap to wake enabled, it wakes up in my pocket in which the accidental touch protection should be activated and taking over. Not the case at all. Yes, I have noticed that placing phone calls, you have to try and figure out where the proximity sensor is. In which I have no idea. Does anyone? Is it in the manual? I can't believe that the first time Samsung puts double tap to wake in one of their phones it's a fail. The sensor that picks up accidental touches never works, ever. I'm not very happy that I'm paying 900 bucks for a Phone in which I cannot use all features. Shame on Samsung. I should have waited. Who knows when they will ever fix this problem, if in fact, it is a software issue not hardware.
The best improvement I've had w/the phone waking in my pocket when double-touch is enabled, is to put the phone in my pocket w/the screen facing forward. It's less comfortable putting it in and taking it out, it's more natural to put in in my pocket w/screen towards my leg, but if I do that it wakes up constantly and starts doing crazy things.
But...it does really make a difference for me - since I started keeping it w/the screen facing away from my leg, I've had very few instances of it waking in my pocket.
YMMV, of course.
