Turning off phone options and camera randomly open up without touching the screen.

JUMP TO SOLUTION

Just recently after the most recent update. My samsung s10 5g will now just open the camera without me touching the screen. As well as the power options that pop up when you hold down the power button, also come on without me touching the power button. It is intermittent but happens enough to be incredibly annoying.

Hey there!

Thanks for reaching out for assistance. Try wiping the cache partition on your device. By doing this, allows the system to access apps more smoothly.

Follow these steps:

- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.
- An ‘Installing system update’ message will show for 30 – 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
- Press Power key to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.

Your phone will take a little time booting up after the cache partition is wiped off of its contents as it will rebuild or recreate those caches. Don’t be alarmed if the phone gets stuck on the logo for a minute or two after this just don’t turn it off so that what was deleted will be replaced successfully. So, wait for your phone to become active. Don’t worry, this procedure is very easy and safe to do. You won’t damage your phone just by wiping the cache partition.

Wow I think that may have actually worked. It didn't take anywhere near as long as you described but the problem seemed to subside. I'll comment again if it comes back.

So update. This did not fix the problem. It fixed the camera problem but not the power button problem.

Just to clarify the power options are populating on the screen without you pressing the power button is that correct?

Yes. And when I click the shutdown option. The phone automatically turns back on without me touching anything. I've chatted with Samsung support and they aren't able to fix it and I'm just returning my phone and getting a different one. Super disappointed.

Thank you for trying. But I literally factory reset my phone and left everything uninstalled and it still happened immediately. I've already ordered a replacement phone and it gets to me Tuesday.

Man, it kills me to read this. The same thing is happening to mine, and it's so disappointing. I have the Note 10+ 5G, and that's the worst part--knowing the phone I'll get will be refurbished instead of the phone that I've treated with the utmost care from the moment of purchase. There needs to be more accountability in this department. When a phone fails while in warranty, the industry practice should be a new replacement as opposed to the "like new" garbage that Samsung allows Asurion to send their customers. It makes me really regret getting my device through them. Verizon also uses Asurion and require extraordinary hoops to be jumped through before warranty will be covered, only to receive a refurbished device: $1300 down the tube. Just so very frustrating.
