Who pushes updates for unlocked phones?

Who pushes software updates to unlocked phones? Samsung, or the Carrier (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc)?

e.g. Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S10e  SM-G970U

Re: Who pushes updates for unlocked phones?

My S10e (SM-G970UZBATMB, renewed, unlocked) with no SIM card in it yet and with Build QP1A.190711.020.G970USQS3CTB6 picked up 2 software updates within the hour over my home WiFi (i.e. not mobile/cellular) connection. I thought the update must have come from Samsung, since there was no SIM card in it to associate with any Carrier, but it looks like I got a Carrier-unlocked T-Mobile phone (for the S10e, model numbers end with TMB), not a Samsung factory unlocked phone (for the S10e, model numbers end with XAA).

I wonder how long T-Mobile will continue to support this phone with updates.. Smiley Frustrated

Re: Who pushes updates for unlocked phones?

Your carrier will provide your phone with the update file, but Samsung's update software on your phone is what controls those files and notifications.
