apps in secure folder - what's the idea?

JUMP TO SOLUTION

Hello,

I somehow don't get the idea of secure folder and apps which I put there. I set it up. I have added some apps expecting them to be locked and inaccessible normally from now on - but no. There is no difference and they still work as before. I expected I will have to use fingerprint upon launching those, but no. The only difference I see is that if I run it from a secure folder it's not configured and asks me again for initial setup. So does it mean if I want to have an app secured this way I gotta configure it again? Isn't there a way to move/import an app into secure folder together with it's data instead of making an empty copy of it?

Hey there!

The Secure folder creates a second copy of the application. You can change the settings of your secure folder. I would mess around until you find the settings you want. You would need to access your secure folder using your credentials.

Your data does not transfer over unless it is moved to the secure folder.

An example would be your Phones Gallery.

If you check the secure folder's gallery. You would need to enter your information to unlock, but it will only contain photo's saved from applications stored in the secure folder. They would appear in your Secure folder's Gallery, and not your Main Gallery.

If you have a saved account associated with the application, you would need to login to that account to be able to have access to saved data on that account.

I would recommend giving this article a try about your secure folder on your device: https://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/what-is/secure-folder/
Hope this message finds you well!

You would need to configure and login to the application while it is in the secure folder to link it to your Account and retrieve saved data.

It creates the copy of your application to be in a private place secured by a PIN unlock, you would need to set it up in order to reap the benefits of the application you are wanting to securely store.
