connecting with a mini projector

i am trying to connect my samsung S10 phone to a VGA merlin mini projector. i have used an apporpriate adapter and the 2 are physically connected but the projector is not displaying the screen of the phone. any recommendations please?

I ALWAYS had issues with physical connection. I recommend just going to Wollyworld or Tarje' and picking up a ChromeCast. (Not the fancy one but just the base line $25-$30 one. With all of the fooling around I did,(hours of cable switching and settings switching trying to get it to work), when I hooked up the Chromecast I was projecting in about 5 minutes. Not to mention less cables strung here to there which gives it a cleaner look overall. Hope this Helps
