Chat messages no longer working on S20+

I've had my phone since summer and suddenly the messages are no longer sending as chat bubbles. They will only send a texts. This wouldn't be an issue except I now cannot send photos without being charged for mms, within chat they're free under my data plan. I've tried updating the phone, resetting it, changing to auto chat as default or just automatic default so it goes with whatever is available for the signal at the time,  I've also cleared the message app cache abs then the phone cache. Nothing has worked. I'm really getting annoyed with it now.

I'm not a crazy person BTW... I was messing about with my husband here..

These chat bubbles are usually blue meaning I'm  using the Samsung messenger service. But now they're green meaning its normal texts and my photos are either going as links that  need downloading or mms messages. I want to get back on to Samsung chat which is blue.
