I could definitely use some help as I have just spent several hours trying to find out why my Google Voice typing seems to have changed from a simple, gray interface to something that looks like- and operates like- something from Romper Room. Honestly, I think somehow my phone is using an older or outmoded version of the voice to text, Complete with random punctuation, random spaces, random capitalization, repeating sentences, and stopping short halfway through a recording.
I've never had to ask a question in one of these forums, so I don't know what sort of information is needed. I'm currently on a Samsung S 20 which is fully updated. I'm using the Samsung keyboard and the Google Voice typing, which is what I've been using pretty much since day one. Nothing has changed there. I have photos of the problem Added below, with the first one being the new Uninvited Google Voice typing, and the second one being the interface I used to have. I will try my best to describe the situation, But if any contributor is need specific system information, please don't hesitate to ask. I don't know a whole lot about these phones and this is my first attempt at a help Forum, so I'm guessing I'm leaving out some critical info.
It seems that after installing an update on my phone this morning, my pale gray interface for Google Voice changed to a huge, blue circle with microphone on a plain white backdrop, and it is duplicating half of my sentences, mistyped words, and failing to autocorrect things such as there, their, and they're as pertaining to the sentence. It doesn't operate as smoothly as the gray interface, with no options to make Corrections without having to completely Go back to the original keyboard. I also seem to have lost the ability to touch on a word and have spelling suggestions or variants Appear almost like a pop down window.
I've spent quite a bit of time trying to correct this, and Truthfully, I'm about ready to throw my phone through the window! Any help will be greatly appreciated because as it stands, my speech to text Is now horrific. Thank you!!!

That was the solution - thank you! It's something that occurred in the last Google update on Feb 12, 2021. If you open the Google app and Uninstall the last update, voice typing should return to the correct working version.

Thanks! I had reset something specific for voice-to-text, and tried updating in case there was a new fix out already, but hadn't thought of resetting Google in general. (I, too, had the problem a couple weeks ago and had it resolve itself in a day, so waited it out for a while, but no such luck this time.)
I couldn't find anywhere to "delete last update," so I had to set it back to original. Then (I use SwiftKey) I had no voice to text "microphone" option showing at all! I had to play around with my input settings a bit, turn microphone settings off and back on, restart phone, etc., but finally got the "green button" one back that offers options! Hurray!
I agree, though, with the general disappointment that Google would just mess up something so many people use every day and not really respond.
Just uninstalled the updates, ditched the Gboard, and restarted my phone...the grey/teal interface is back along with my beloved name/place capitalization, word prompts, and intelligent autocorrections. You are a godsend!!!!!
Why is this happening again? A month later almost to the day and they keep changing the Google voice to text and it is awful. User UNFRIENDLY. No auto suggestions, correct spellings, easy back and forth from voice to type. C'mon Samsung, correct your error once again and don't do this at the beginning of every month with a lousy update for Google Voice to Text. Does anyone have a solution?
Same issues here and very frustrating. I wouldn't mind the new BLUE button version if it would only suggest choices to the wrong words it chooses which the GREEN button version does. Mine fixed itself the 1st time too as mentioned by others on it's own. Then the 2nd time I couldn't fix it, so I reboot my phone back to factory and that worked!!! But alot of work resetting my settings 😞 Now today without having turned the phone off (seemed before that was an issue with it updating) it changed again on it's own. I sent texts this morning as usual, then on a reply to the same text, the BLUE button version appeared 😞 😞 😞 I HATE IT!!!! We are ALL waiting for a solution from either Google or Samsung PLEASE!!!
